Job ID 2026-238332 JOB OVERVIEW The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership support to the housekeeping and laundry operations. The Housekeeping Supervisor is a working leader in the day to day operations directly supervising and assisting the housekeeping and laundry team members as well as performing hands on housekeeping and laundry tasks creating a safe, secure and inviting environment for residents, guests and team members.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years housekeeping/laundry operations experience preferably in assisted living/long term care, full service, skilled nursing and/or hospitality industries.
  • Supervisory/management experience preferred which may include supervising and responsibility of shift/daily operations.
  • High School diploma / GED accepted.
  • Ability to train team members on housekeeping and laundry tasks according to Sunrise quality service standards.
  • Desire to work with seniors.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate small group presentations.
  • Competent in organizational, time management skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • As applicable, all Sunrise team members who drive a Sunrise vehicle must review and sign the Driver job description and understand the key essential duties for safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develops work assignments for housekeeping and laundry team members.
  • Supervises all aspects of the housekeeping and laundry operations.
  • Partners with community leadership ensuring housekeeping and laundry services and operating standards are achieved.
  • Assists in orienting and training all new housekeeping and laundry team members as well as team members who share housekeeping and laundry responsibilities.
  • Assists in daily review of timekeeping practices and payroll reports to ensure all hours worked are recorded and appropriately paid.
  • Assists in ensuring standards of cleanliness, hygiene, proper attire and health standards are maintained at all times.
  • Inspects and monitors the cleanliness and safety of housekeeping and laundry equipment, supplies and storage locations routinely.
  • Partners with maintenance team and/or approved vendors facilitating repairs of housekeeping and laundry equipment.
  • Assists Care Managers and Department Coordinators with resident care when requested.
  • Reviews, reads, notates and initializes Daily Log to document and learn about pertinent information and any resident’s physical and behavioral changes.
  • Maintains visibility throughout the department and takes initiative to assist team members.
  • Assists leadership and ensures all general housekeeping tasks in all full service, assisted living/long term care, reminiscence and/or skilled nursing center resident suites, public areas and support areas meets and/or exceeds Sunrise’s quality standards.
  • Assists leadership and ensures team members respect resident’s privacy by knocking on their suite doors and on public restroom doors during the cleaning process.
  • Assists, monitors and ensures resident suites and bathrooms are cleaned according to weekly schedule.
  • Monitors and follows up on assignments to ensure completion.
  • Assists leadership and ensures supplies to include clean and soiled linen are delivered to the appropriate storage and collection areas.
  • Assists leadership and ensures that trash collection and removal and trash receptacles and collection areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary and timely manner.
  • Assists leadership and ensures community laundry is collected, cleaned and redistributed.
  • Assists leadership and ensures linens are properly sorted, washed and dried following approved laundry procedures.
  • Assists leadership and ensures linens are properly, folded, counted and stacked following approved laundry procedures.
  • Monitors and routinely inspects for stains, wear and tear and discards per operating procedures for damaged linens.
  • Assists and ensures laundry equipment is maintained in a clean, sanitary condition and operates per manufacturer’s standards.
  • Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with national/provincial regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures that safety procedures are practiced at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Lockout Tagout procedures.
  • Ensures any cords, carts, equipment and other hazards are kept out of the way at all times, not blocking exits and in compliance with fire codes.
  • Ensures cleaning chemicals are kept stored and locked when not in use.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment and to prevent accidents.
  • Complies with all infection control techniques, placement of bio-hazard containers and removal techniques, procedures and policies.
  • Assists leadership in all fire and safety drills, in-service meetings and department programs.
  • Participates actively as a member of a team and committed to working toward team goals.
  • Demonstrates in daily interactions with others, our Team Member Credo.
  • Commits to serving our residents and guests through our Principles of Service.
  • Contributes in the overall engagement programs and processes (customer and team member engagement) including participating in the team member engagement survey and engagement improvement planning workshops.
  • Attends regular meetings; Town Hall, Department Team Meetings, Cross Over, and others as directed by the Supervisor / Department Coordinator.
  • Assists in orienting and training all new housekeeping and laundry team members as well as team members who share housekeeping and laundry responsibilities.
  • Assists with the completion of timely performance appraisals with meaningful conversations.
  • Provides effective leadership in coaching and counseling, developing team members in meeting performance standards.
  • Maintain compliance in assigned required training and all training required by state/province or other regulating authorities as applicable to this role to ensure that Sunrise standards are always met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
