Household Manager & Family Assistant

Sage HausRichmond, TX
13d$28 - $32Onsite

About The Position

We are a busy, warm family in Richmond, TX, looking for someone to help us keep things running smoothly. Our household is full of energy with two young kids (3 and 5) and a lovable golden retriever. The parents work different weekly schedules, and things can get a little chaotic, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays, when our schedules overlap and there’s a lot of catching up to do. We’re looking for someone who feels like part of the family, who can jump right in and get things done without needing to be micromanaged, and who can just help everything flow better day-to-day. You’ll have a strong presence in the home, as the family values a comfortable, easy-going atmosphere, and enjoys being together. You won’t be working in the background—you’ll be right in the mix, keeping the house organized and running smoothly while keeping the family vibe positive and fun. We’re looking for a highly organized, proactive House Manager who takes ownership, implements systems, and helps our home run more smoothly day to day. This role is primarily focused on household support — with occasional help around the kids — and requires someone who is positive, tech-capable, and comfortable being an integrated, trusted presence in our home.

Requirements

  • Able to maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Has reliable transportation.
  • Has up-to-date routine vaccinations (general, flu).
  • Comfortable with passing a background check.
  • Organized + systems-minded: You naturally create order, from managing laundry flow to organizing spaces like pantries and storage areas.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented: You quickly assess what’s needed and take initiative without waiting for step-by-step direction.
  • Detail-focused household executor: You notice what needs to get done and follow through consistently.
  • Tech-comfortable: Confident handling tasks like Facebook Marketplace sales or basic digital organization independently.
  • Warm and family-friendly: Comfortable around kids and happy to lend a hand when needed, while understanding childcare isn’t the primary focus.
  • Positive, professional presence: Friendly, adaptable, and able to integrate naturally into a busy home environment.
  • Dog lover: Must be comfortable around and genuinely enjoy being with a needy-but-adorable family dog.

Responsibilities

  • Household Organization & Maintenance: Create and maintain household organization systems (closets, pantry, toys, storage).
  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies by managing a shared household list for supplies to keep the family stocked on essentials.
  • Reset and tidy common areas daily (load/unload dishwasher, clear off and wipe surfaces like kitchen island, and vacuum high-traffic areas, etc.), ensure everything is prepped for cleaning services.
  • Oversee household schedules and keep everything organized, helping anticipate needs as the family’s routine evolves.
  • Prepare for family events, holidays, and guest stays, and support with the holiday 'magic' (e.g., decorations, planning, etc.).
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs and pick-ups, including helping with selling items on Facebook Marketplace.
  • Help with packing/unpacking for trips and seasonal or kid's size transitions.
  • Oversee patio and backyard areas, ensuring they are picked up and organized.
  • Track, sort, and manage incoming mail. Leave the important items that require the family’s attention for review.
  • Laundry & Linen Care: Manage all laundry duties: wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (clothing, bedding, towels).
  • Keep linens organized and rotate bedding.
  • Steam work shirts and keep laundry areas clean and well-stocked with supplies. Be on top of laundry storage organization—this will be a key part of your role!
  • Pet Care: Feed and walk the family dog; keep food bowls clean and stocked.
  • Regularly check and organize pet supplies.
  • Spend time with the dog as needed and ensure she’s well cared for.
  • Meal Planning & Preparation: Collaborate with family to plan and prep meals, focusing on Wednesday and Friday dinners when the family is home and needs a hearty meal (e.g., crockpot or oven meals).
  • Ensure there are leftovers for mom's lunch the next day.
  • Shop for groceries, including regular Costco runs and picking up items as needed from HEB.
  • Clean up the kitchen after meal prep and ensure it stays tidy.
  • Additional Tasks: Help with occasional deep cleaning projects (fridge, oven, baseboards) when needed.
  • Schedule and oversee regular vehicle maintenance, such as oil changes.
  • Organize special projects like seasonal clothing transitions, holiday prep, or toy storage.
  • Assist with keeping the home running smoothly, such as making sure the water softener levels are maintained and turning the chlorine filter on/off as needed.
  • Feel comfortable around children and open to stepping in as a warm, capable backup when needed — not as a primary nanny, but as a supportive, team-oriented presence who helps the household flow smoothly.
