Requirements

  • Current license to practice in Florida
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and/or direct the implementation of individualized nursing care.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions.
  • A minimum of two (2) years in a Psychiatric Behavioral Health Center environment or health-care facility treating mentally ill or chemically dependent patients, with understanding of co-occurring disorders, and Cultural Linguistic Diversity amongst patients.
  • Must have supervisory experience
  • Current Florida State Registered Nurse License
  • Current Florida Driver's License
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental competency exam.
  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
  • Ability to accurately administer medication and monitor side-effects.
  • Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation
  • Sensitive and aware of diverse cultures and their practices

Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent care, comfort, and security to the patients and families.
  • Directing subordinates in the performance of their duties.
  • Accurately administering medication and monitoring side-effects.
  • Safely implementing Special Treatment Procedures.
  • Developing therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
