About The Position

The House Attendant (HA) works closely with the Housekeeping Management Team to support the daily operations of the department. This position is responsible for general runner duties and directly assists Room Attendants by collecting dirty linens, transporting them to the laundry area, and delivering clean linens to assigned floors. The HA maintains the cleanliness and presentation of the public space and public bathrooms, retrieves trash throughout the hotel, and may assist with the laundry function. Additional duties include cleaning public space, public bathrooms, exterior hotel entrances, and assisting with special projects as needed, assigned by the Housekeeping Manager. Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards. Perform general runner duties by assisting Room Attendants with heavy items (e.g., mattresses and linens) and delivering linens and other supplies to assigned carts and areas. Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the public space, including cleaning other designated areas such as storage rooms and corridors. Ensure the organization and cleanliness of floor closets and corridors, which includes removing trash, wiping down shelves/counters, sweeping, mopping, and/or vacuuming floors. Perform dedicated cleaning of public bathrooms (public restrooms) and other public area spaces. Respond to guests’ requests, special requests, and guest complaints in a timely and efficient manner, including the delivery of housekeeping/room supplies to achieve complete guest satisfaction. Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions for the supervisor. Minimize waste of supplies and amenities within all areas of housekeeping. Delivery lost and found items according to established procedures. Assist with projects as needed, which may regularly include deep cleaning projects. When assigned to laundry, they monitor laundry supplies and equipment, operate washers and dryers according to hotel standards, receive soiled linens, inspect for damage, and fold and store clean linens. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding health and safety services. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Some previous housekeeping experience preferred.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is preferred, other languages beneficial.
  • Basic reading, writing and mathematical abilities are preferred.
  • Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
  • Carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Will be required to regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals.
  • Will be required to work mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays.

  • Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred.
