About The Position

The Hotel Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of the hotel’s physical facilities and systems, ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and team members. This role requires hands-on technical skills, preventative maintenance knowledge, and the ability to address guest-related issues efficiently while upholding Marriott brand standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in a relevant field preferred.
  • 1–2 years of general maintenance experience in a hotel or similar facility required.
  • Strong working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and general building repairs.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and hotel safety/security protocols.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in various conditions including indoors, outdoors, heat, and cold.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC knowledge is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and repair work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other hotel systems.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance service requests from guests or team members and resolve issues with minimal disruption.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and exterior grounds.
  • Monitor and maintain the pool and spa area to ensure water quality and compliance with health codes (if applicable).
  • Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and health regulations, including maintaining safety logs and completing safety training.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Maintain tools, supplies, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Assist with energy management and cost-control efforts in utilities and repairs.
  • Participate in emergency response situations such as power outages, plumbing leaks, and weather-related incidents.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and maintenance logs.
