Host (Part-Time) The James (James Island, SC) Join Our Growing, Hospitality-Driven Team! The James is seeking a warm and professional Host to join our team! About Us: The James is a neighborhood restaurant offering classic American fare in the heart of James Island , Charleston. With a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, The James serves familiar, comforting dishes with genuine hospitalitycreating a welcoming community space that guests love to return to. Locally operated by The Neighborhood Dining Group the team behind acclaimed restaurants like Husk , Delaney Oyster House , Minero , and Marbled & Fin The James upholds a culture rooted in quality, service, and people-first leadership. Who We're Looking For: We're looking for a warm, professional, and organized Host to be the first and lasting impression for our guests. In this position, you have the opportunity to have a competitive hourly rate plus great tips. Pay rates and ranges listed are averages INCLUDING tips and fluctuate with business levels. Pay rates and ranges are not guaranteed and tips are given at the sole discretion of our guests.
Requirements
- Friendly, polished, and guest-focused
- Organized, efficient, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting
- Comfortable using reservation systems (experience with OpenTable or Resy a plus)
- A team player who communicates clearly and positively
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Greet guests with genuine hospitality and professionalism
- Manage reservations and walk-ins using a reservation platform
- Communicate wait times clearly and accurately
- Coordinate efficient and thoughtful seating to maximize service flow
- Support the front-of-house team to ensure a smooth guest experience
