About The Position

Sylvia's isn't just a restaurant, it's a Harlem institution! Founded in 1962 by the legendary "Queen of Soul Food" Sylvia Woods, we've been serving up soul food favorites and feeding generations of happy customers. The world famous Sylvia's Restaurant is seeking Hosts/Cashiers with an enthusiastic and welcoming personality to join our team. Under the direction of our Managers, the Host/Cashier is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for our guests by ensuring that each guest is promptly greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner, while accommodating each party with swift attention. The cashier is responsible for managing cash and credit card transactions. The host is responsible for seating guests in the dining room in accordance with the table seating chart and availability.

Requirements

Have a great work ethic and commitment to uncompromising Hospitality
Have the ability to maintain a welcoming personality in a fast-paced environment
The ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time
Restaurant Experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Enthusiastically greet & welcome guests entering restaurant
Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs to provide the best guest experience
Answer telephone calls with a smile and respond to inquiries or transfer calls
Maintain the restaurant with regards to cleanliness, neatness and customer accessibility
Work as a team member to support other restaurant employees in their duties
Follow directions on other duties as assigned by the Management team
