About The Position

Hospitality Supervisors are integral to ensuring excellence across our operations. In this role, you will lead the collaborative oversight of the guest experience, staff cohesion, and daily operations for both our Cafe and Seasonal Pizza Stand at our Boiceville location. Your commitment to quality and teamwork will be essential in maintaining our high standards, while your leadership skills drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Bread Alone Supervisors are tasked with ensuring that their station is running safely, smoothly, efficiently, and in accordance with our Purpose, Values, and Culture. Supervisors embody good habits and Bread Alone culture while setting the bar with their own behavior. Supervisors are our first line of leadership and the primary source of hands-on guidance for our Professionals. They are the mentors and support system for our Professionals and are responsible for furthering the Professional team’s cohesion, practical skills, and techniques. Supervisors are responsible for actively troubleshooting and communicating with other Leadership team members around issues that arise during the course of the shift. Supervisors must hold themselves and all teammates accountable to Bread Alone safety, culture, and employee conduct standards. They must address any product, equipment, and interpersonal issues in accordance with Bread Alone policy. Supervisors take ownership and responsibility for the Boiceville customer experience. They embody the work ethic, curiosity, gritty determination, honesty, and humility at the core of the Bread Alone management principles. Supervisors ask for consent, build consensus, and never use coercion to lead their team. HOURS: Shifts may be scheduled in either the Boiceville Café, operating between 6:00 am and 5:30 pm, or the seasonal Pizza Stand, operating between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm, depending on business needs. The Pizza Stand operates from May through October. Weekend availability is required.

Requirements

  • Able to stand for long periods of time while executing tasks quickly and accurately.

  • Able and willing to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and assigned uniform as required per company policy.
  • Willing to follow all food safety guidelines and uniform guidelines, which include but are not limited to: Refraining from heavy perfume, wearing appropriate hair restraints, Willing to take responsibility for your own and others' safety by following all safety rules and regulations and reporting any unsafe conditions to your GM manager.
  • The Cafe is open year-round with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Flexibility in coverage and negotiating time off based on the needs of the business is required.
  • Team members must be willing to work consistently throughout the year, which includes holidays and weekends.
  • Overtime may be required up to 50 hours per week for Supervisors based on the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, efficient, high-quality operation of the Cafe and/or Seasonal Pizza Stand.
  • Have a full knowledge of and ability to communicate effectively all guidelines and standards for safe, efficient, and hospitable operation.
  • Lead the team in maintaining a clean and friendly cafe throughout the day. This will include audits of stations, directing the staff on cleaning procedures, and the upkeep of side work.
  • Create sustainability in our work environment by collaborating with your teammates to achieve our goals.
  • Deliver high-quality hospitality and ensure a consistent best-in-class guest experience.
  • Actively and immediately communicate any service or product quality issues to senior management.
  • Communicate on Slack for quality control and general communication with other departments when needed.
  • Ensure that Bread Alone safety, culture, and food safety standards are being followed by you and all team members in the cafe.
  • Be responsible for proper safe equipment operation, assisting in scheduling routine maintenance, and routine troubleshooting as set by managers and training materials.
  • Provide feedback to Culinary and Baking Leadership on products and recipes when appropriate.
  • Ensure that you and any professionals are following the break schedule.
  • Communicate with your manager regarding any need for adjustments based on the workflow/pace of the store.
  • Organize and delegate tasks as needed to any professionals assigned to your shift. Supervisors will be responsible for holding the team accountable for the checklists associated with the tasks and for the maintenance of the lists themselves.
  • Listen to team members, provide feedback to your manager on any issues, and seek support when necessary.
  • Coach and guide team members to perform according to Bread Alone standards.
  • Full understanding of and ability to execute all full beverage programs and mastery of all coffee equipment operations.
  • Execute weekly ordering in collaboration with the rest of the leadership team, ensuring adherence to existing systems.
  • Execute monthly inventory in collaboration with the rest of the leadership team, ensuring adherence to existing systems.
  • Be responsible for cash management, including drawers, tips, petty cash, and change exchange.
  • Lead and guide the training of all new hires.
  • Learn and execute any other responsibilities or tasks the company identifies as necessary to this position in the future.
