Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or equivalent foreign diploma
- Completion of Internal Medicine Residency (ACGME-accredited) OR Family Medicine Residency with: Minimum 3 years of hospitalist experience OR completion of a Hospital Medicine Fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by ABIM or ABFM
- Eligible for/Current Virginia Medical License
- Valid DEA controlled substance registration
Responsibilities
- Provide in-hospital care for patients during overnight hours
- Specialize in internal medicine and be certified in hospital medicine
- Review health records and collaborate with primary care physicians
- Serve as the sole provider during the patient’s hospital stay, coordinating care
- Perform emergency procedures and respond to acute medical needs
- Offer guidance to APPs and students working in the hospital overnight
