Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or equivalent foreign diploma
  • Completion of Internal Medicine Residency (ACGME-accredited) OR Family Medicine Residency with: Minimum 3 years of hospitalist experience OR completion of a Hospital Medicine Fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by ABIM or ABFM
  • Eligible for/Current Virginia Medical License
  • Valid DEA controlled substance registration

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-hospital care for patients during overnight hours
  • Specialize in internal medicine and be certified in hospital medicine
  • Review health records and collaborate with primary care physicians
  • Serve as the sole provider during the patient’s hospital stay, coordinating care
  • Perform emergency procedures and respond to acute medical needs
  • Offer guidance to APPs and students working in the hospital overnight
