About The Position

Serves as the administrative resource person within the Hospital for interpretation and implementation of policies and procedures for all departments. Collaborates with department directors/nurse manager to guide staff in the process of problem resolution. Responsibilities

• Maintains current clinical knowledge relative to age and technology of patients from newborn throughout life span and keeps current with hospital policies/procedures.
• Works with department manager to determine optimal allocation of staff, per shift on each unit.
• Coordinates the care of patients on assigned shift.
• Communicates shift concerns by unit to appropriate department mangers/directors.
• Serves as administrative authority for the smooth function of all units on assigned shift.
• Notifies administrator, department manager of urgent concerns during shift, when the concern is non-urgent, notifies manager by phone message or e-mail.
• Keeps Associate administrator informed of the needs and problems on a particular shift or unit.
• Receives employee, patient, and family grievances. Refers information to appropriate supervisor.
• Assists in survey compliance, quality assurance and staff development duties, as assigned.
• Notifies department manager and organizational development of identified learning needs.
• Follows identified tracking method for employee call offs. Notifies department manager/directors of call offs in their units via attendance tracking.
• Supervises staff and assures survey compliance on a daily basis.
• Provides guidance and support to staff to better plan work flow.
• Provides clinical expertise in the management of medical and psychiatric emergencies.
