About The Position

This position assists in assuring adequate component inventory for internal and external customer needs and compliance with federal regulations and industry standards. It provides outstanding customer service to internal and external customers. Approximately 75% of the job is spent in the hospital services department and 25% is driving and delivering orders. Memorial Blood Centers, founded in 1948, serves Minnesota and Wisconsin, delivering over 125,000 lifesaving blood products annually to 50+ hospitals, EMS, and healthcare partners. Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Continuous movement in and out of vehicle
  • Ability to work well with others and independently
  • 2 years of driving and/or customer service experience
  • Good driving record
  • Good communication skills; both oral and written
  • Ability to learn required computer functions and programs
  • Attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in assuring adequate component inventory for internal and external customer needs
  • Assisting in assuring compliance with federal regulations and industry standards
  • Providing outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
  • Performing and overseeing daily Hospital Service tasks (HSRD-1 tasks)
  • Consigning Hospital Orders
  • Shipping Hospital Orders
  • Packing Hospital Orders
  • Reconciliation of Hospital Orders
  • Irradiation/modification of Hospital Orders
  • Performing timely driving functions
  • Delivering hospital Transfusion Services blood component orders
  • Performing whole blood pick-ups from Collections Van/Mobiles/Fixed sites
  • Performing sample pick-ups for Reference Lab, Donor Testing, and Nat Lab
  • Responsible for daily interactions with our hospital customers
  • Daily telephone communications with the hospital Transfusion Services allows for correct orders and component shipments
  • Maintaining adequate knowledge of departmental equipment operation to monitor and troubleshoot problem situations with the Maintenance department and equipment support services
  • Maintains Hospital Services vehicles, department supplies, required forms, and reports
  • Maintains a working knowledge of federal regulations and industry standards for the storage, labeling, distribution and transport of blood component
