About The Position

Memorial Blood Centers, founded in 1948, has served Minnesota and Wisconsin for over 75 years, delivering more than 125,000 lifesaving blood products annually to 50+ hospitals, EMS, and healthcare partners. As part of New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe), which operates across 17+ states, MBC contributes to delivering one million blood products to 400+ U.S. hospitals annually, alongside cellular therapies, specialty pharmacy, and medical services to research, academic, and biopharmaceutical organizations. NYBCe's Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute is a leader in hematology and transfusion medicine research. The Hospital Services Driver is responsible for the delivery and pick-up of blood components from Memorial Blood Centers' service hospitals and blood drives, and may assist other departments with deliveries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • 2 Years driving experience including highway and residential
  • Ability to work well with others and independently; good communication skills both oral and written; displays a professional manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Position involves the transportation and handling of potentially infectious materials (i.e., blood and body fluids).

Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes Memorial Blood Centers' practices to ensure excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Ensures correct and timely packaging of blood components and supplies for transport. Provides timely delivery and pick-up as directed by Hospital Services and other departments within the blood center, as schedule permits.
  • Demonstrates complete understanding and complies with established policies and procedures relating to assigned tasks; adheres to safety policies and procedures.
  • Promotes teamwork and communication internally and externally. Maintains a professional attitude and appearance. Demonstrates dependability, punctuality and cooperation.
  • Participates in continuing education training. Attends staff meetings and completes competency testing on time.
  • Maintains vehicles, supplies and required forms and reports. Responsible for maintaining records of all miles driven on a given day/shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
