About The Position

Cardinal Health operates the Pharmacy located at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, TN. This role is for a PRN (as needed) Pharmacy Technician to pick up shifts. Pharmacy Technicians assist Pharmacists in the daily operations of the pharmacy, including preparing and filling prescriptions, managing pharmacy inventory, and processing product returns. They ensure all orders are reviewed by a registered pharmacist and all activity complies with regulatory and company guidelines. The position involves frequent communication with customers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Requirements

Licensed pharmacy technician in the state of Tennessee.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
May require vendor credentialing.

Nice To Haves

PTCB certified or ability to obtain certification preferred.
IV certified or ability to obtain certification preferred.
In-patient/hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists pharmacists in filling prescription orders as permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy.
Prepares medication for dispensing, packaging, and shipment.
Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out of date items from the inventory.
Enters medical supply orders in pharmacy system.
Communicates with all customers (patients, clinics, care-givers, physicians) in an amicable and professional manner.
Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
Inputs patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy information management system.
Maintains knowledge of and abides by all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
