About The Position

Health System Pharmacy at Cardinal Health is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of pharmacy operations, servicing acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care, alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices, and retail customers. They provide customized pharmacy program solutions to reduce costs and improve patient care quality for various healthcare providers. This specific role is for a PRN Pharmacy Technician at the Cardinal Health Pharmacy located at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, TN, to pick up shifts as needed. Pharmacy Technicians assist Pharmacists in daily operations, including preparing and filling prescriptions, managing inventory, and processing product returns. They ensure all orders are reviewed by a registered pharmacist and maintain compliance with regulatory and company guidelines, frequently communicating with customers for timely and accurate order fulfillment.

Requirements

  • Licensed pharmacy technician in the state of Tennessee.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
  • May require vendor credentialing.

Nice To Haves

  • PTCB certified or ability to obtain certification preferred.
  • IV certified or ability to obtain certification preferred.
  • In-patient/hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists pharmacists in filling prescription orders as permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy.
  • Prepares medication for dispensing, packaging, and shipment.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out of date items from the inventory.
  • Enters medical supply orders in pharmacy system.
  • Communicates with all customers (patients, clinics, care-givers, physicians) in an amicable and professional manner.
  • Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.
  • Inputs patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy information management system.
  • Maintains knowledge of and abides by all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
