About The Position

The Medical Biller function is responsible for providing services to the facility which will include but not limited to daily billing in Availity, Medicare DDE billing, correcting claims and resubmissions as needed, report preparation, performing basic computer system maintenance, and maintaining correspondence. Knowledge of hospital billing is required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computer and software packages, including maintenance of hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of in-house processing systems.
  • Knowledge of report preparation and layout features.
  • Knowledge of all code procedures.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.
  • Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (adolescent, adult and geriatric).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Two (2) years of Hospital or medical office billing, experience in billing software programs, Availity would be preferred. Medicare billing, Medicaid and all commercials insurance company billing.
  • Two (2) years of data entry experience, preferably in a health care setting, with a working knowledge of computers and business software application programs (particularly Excel) and experience with in-house processing systems.
  • May be required to work flexible hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with data entry of insurance and accounts receivables helpful or any combination of education, training or experience in a health care business office environment.
