About The Position

Hospital Facilities Maintenance Technician Level I or II Brownsville, TX - Plant Operations & Maintenance Dept Vanguard Resources, Inc., (VRI) is actively recruiting for Full Time Facilities Maintenance Technicians, (entry-level) I or II. Location: Our Client's Site: Valley Baptist Medical Center - Brownsville, TX Hospital Facilities Maintenance Technician Level I or II -; new to this work/industry or 1+ years experience preferred: Starting hourly rate: $15+ p/hour (depending on skills & experience) Shifts as assigned: assigned shift will be either days (1st shift): 8am - 4:30 pm or evenings (2nd shift): 4pm-12:30am. If shift change is required, employee is provided several weeks notice. Consistently scheduled 40 hours per week! Schedule: Typically Monday - Friday, unless scheduled for weekend work (Sat & Sun). If scheduled for the weekend, days off will be Friday & Monday. Required to work 1 weekend per month, but this is subject to change (typically every 3rd weekend). IMPORTANT: all technicians are required to be scheduled as 'On Call' every 2 months (1 week outside of scheduled work hours). Position Summary: Assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the facility in good repair. Minor maintenance and repair duties are the primary duties. May perform preventive maintenance (PM) duties to all physical structures of facilities, complying with all safety codes. Assists the team with plumbing, mechanical and HVAC maintenance. May perform general facility floor/wall repairs and painting as needed. Performs manual duties as requested (i.e., replacing light bulbs, replacing of ceiling tiles). Reports to the Facility Supervisor & Facility Manager. Daily functions: Respond to any building and/or facilities systems issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs) Assists with maintaining building security and immediately responds to building monitors and replaces light bulbs in all assigned facilities, as needed Makes minor plumbing repairs, as necessary Performs basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required Hangs pictures and shelving, as needed Transports goods or equipment as assigned Performs immediate cleaning duties necessary to maintain clean facility Supports a safe working environment at all times. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Requirements

  • Some or completed college or technical school; facilities maintenance background in any industry and/or, military facilities background and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0-3+ years experience in facilities maintenance preferably
  • Maintenance Tech level I is an entry-level position - new to this industry
  • Must successfully pass criminal background check
  • Must complete and/or take all required health screenings and vaccines.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors and vendors
  • Possess computer skills and be proficient MS Office as well as preventive maintenance, building automation, procurement, work assignment systems
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Must be organized and provide support of project plans
  • Provide a clean and safe environment for the patients and staff on the grounds year around.
  • Maintain clean buildings, grounds and specified equipment.
  • Perform and document safety inspections on building systems.
  • Favorable results of a criminal background check and drug screen
  • Valid ID or Driver License, with satisfactory driving record

  • Hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities
