The Hospital Development Specialist (HDS) performs as a donation consultant to hospitals.  Responsible to develop, market, monitor and implement policies, procedures, strategies and best practices to enhance organ and tissue donation. Responds on-site during active cases to support all aspects of the donation process. Collaborates closely with hospitals to provide feedback, identify improvements, presents data analysis and creates performance improvement goals and action plans to improve performance and outcome measures. Partners with NJ Sharing Network departments to improve all aspects of the donation process.  Utilizes skills and independent judgment to maximize donor referral outcomes. Evening and weekend work is required.  Responsible for timely compliance with all Network programs and policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a health-related or marketing field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous sales/marketing experience in a healthcare-related field desired.
• A thorough knowledge of hospital protocol is preferred.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Must be able to maintain confidential information.
• Strong word processing, database, and presentation software skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license and access to an automobile.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and develops strategic and professional relationships with key donor hospital staff that includes senior leadership in collaboration with NJSN leadership.
• Makes on site visits on referrals/cases to develop relationships and facilitate the donation process. Provides consultation in real time when significant issues arise.  Identifies and implements solutions and corrective actions as necessary.  Responsible for timely follow up and formal after action reviews.
• Assesses hospital needs and develops hospital service plans to ensure awareness, education and quality improvement of donor services.  Develops goals and action plans in collaboration with key administrative contacts at each hospital.  Ensures that goals and action plans are signed off by required hospital contacts and communicated to key staff. Identifies best practices and initiates programs to implement at all assigned hospitals.  Ensures that proven methods are communicated internally.
• Identifies key audiences in assigned hospitals.  Schedules and conducts strategically designed compliant educational programs to improve donation outcomes.   Uses discretion to determine when educational intervention is necessary for performance improvement.
• Implements and tracks best practices to ensure continuous performance improvement.  Utilizes skills and independent judgment to maximize donation outcomes.
• Presents data and information on donation to hospital committee meetings including but not limited to, donor councils, bioethics, critical care and performance improvement utilizing support from mentors and manager.
• Coordinates and implements continuing educational initiatives and activities to ensure current knowledge of the donor process and the hospital regulatory environment (i.e. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and New Jersey State Department of Health.)
• Consults with hospital senior leaders/administration with NJSN leadership to ensure compliance with regulations and developments in the donor process.
• Maintains current documentation of key hospital staff, policies and procedures, demographic profiles, educational programs, hospital visits, meeting minutes and other critical information within both hospital and Network guides/folders/notebooks. Communicates minimum standard of data back to hospitals monthly.
• Responsible to prepare and participate in full staff, clinical staff, team and committee meetings to ensure the development and implementation of best practices through case review.
• Performs other duties as assigned based on training, expertise, and Clinical needs.
