About The Position

Harborview Medical Center - Environmental Services has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary full-time (100% FTE) Hospital Custodian. This position is benefits-eligible and anticipated to be up to 12 months in duration. WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE (40 hours per week) Temporary Night Shift 11:00pm-7:30am DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Our staff team contribute to UW Medicine Patients Are First healthcare team by providing a clean, healthy, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Under general supervision, the individual in this role will maintain cleanliness and care of facilities in inpatient and non-patient areas and administrative offices as assigned. Requirements

• Physical ability to do required work.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure.
• Removes and properly handles soiled linen; disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms; dust and wet mops hard floors with disinfectant.
• Empties/relines wastebaskets, regulated medical waste containers, and recycle containers.
• Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure.
• Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors.
• Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure.
• Vacuums and spot clean carpets; operates automated carpet shampooers and extractors.
• Follows written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, personal protective apparel, supplies, and equipment.
