About The Position

The Hospital-Based SUD Services Supervisor is a strategic and clinical leader responsible for supervising SUD Peer Support staff and Case Managers working in hospital settings. This role ensures effective pathways for identifying, engaging, and transitioning patients with substance use disorders (SUD) into recovery services. The position requires high-level collaboration with hospital leadership, medical personnel, and county funders. The ideal candidate is dynamic, clinically sophisticated in SUD practices including MAT, and skilled in patient engagement and community resource navigation.

Requirements

  • Recognize the acute and often unstable medical, psychological, and social conditions of patients with substance use disorders in hospital environments
  • Understand the impact of stigma, trauma, and co-occurring disorders on patient engagement and treatment outcomes
  • Navigate the complexities of hospital systems while advocating for patient-centered, recovery-oriented care
  • Demonstrate empathy, cultural competence, and adaptability in high-pressure clinical settings
  • Expertise in medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including hospital based buprenorphine/Suboxone protocols
  • Understanding of withdrawal management strategies in hospital settings
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment
  • Ability to educate and train medical personnel on SUD treatment approaches
  • Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field plus two years of direct client service experience in hospital setting and/or substance use. Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Master’s degree in counseling or a directly related field with two years of direct client service experience in hospital setting and/or substance abuse, licensed or pursuing licensure preferred. Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
  • MCAP, CAP, or CAC certification from the Florida Certification Board with two years of direct client service experience in hospital setting and/or substance abuse. Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification or certifications must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment
  • Ability to move about treatment facility, both indoors and out
  • Ability to lift and carry 5 to 10 pounds reasonable accommodation will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based computers
  • Ability to document in an electronic health record system
  • Ability to use Zoom and Teams virtual platforms
  • Highly organized
  • Familiarity with Data Collection and Analysis
  • Adheres to company time and attendance standards, with understanding of the needs of a 24-hour residential program if applicable
  • Demonstrates knowledge of company policy and procedure
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must pass a level II background check and drug screen
  • Must maintain current training as required by Operation PAR, Inc. policies

Responsibilities

  • Supervise SUD Peer Support staff and Case Managers in hospital-based settings
  • Develop and implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for SUD engagement and referral
  • Collaborate with hospital personnel to support MAT initiation and withdrawal management
  • Oversee warm handoff and discharge planning for patients with substance use disorders
  • Coordinate referrals to CAM and for community-based treatment and recovery services
  • Serve as liaison between hospital staff, hospital leadership, and county representatives
  • Educate medical staff on evidence-based SUD practices and stigma-free care approaches
  • Participate in interdepartmental rounds and case conferences for high-risk patients
  • Ensure continuity of care and follow-through on referrals to external providers and MAT programs
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to SUD Peer Supports and Case Managers working in hospital environments
  • Apply evidence-based practices to support effective patient engagement and care transitions
  • Translate SUD treatment protocols and hospital policies into actionable workflows for frontline staff
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between Peer staff, Case Managers, and hospital personnel
  • Ensure staff are equipped to navigate hospital systems and community-based recovery resources
  • Promote a trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to care delivery and supervision
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing SUD treatment, including 42 CFR Part 2 and HIPAA
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information across all documentation and communication channels
  • Monitor staff adherence to privacy laws and ethical standards in hospital and community-based settings
  • Train and supervise staff on proper documentation practices within electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Collaborate with compliance and quality assurance teams to meet regulatory and auditing requirements
  • Implement workflows that align with DCF and CARF standards for SUD care
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions, referrals, and treatment plans
