About The Position

ANOVA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM is seeking Chaplains to serve in a variety of roles. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Hospice Chaplain. The Hospice Chaplain will provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff members within our hospice care facility. This part-time position (5-10 hours/week) requires a deep understanding of various religious and spiritual traditions, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in divinity, theology, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Ordination or endorsement by a recognized religious organization
  • Previous experience in pastoral or spiritual care, preferably in a healthcare or hospice setting
  • Knowledge of death, dying, grief, and bereavement processes
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of various religious and spiritual traditions, as well as cultural sensitivity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with patients and their families
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care in challenging and emotionally sensitive situations
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications and electronic medical records systems
  • Masters of Divinity (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Expectation of maintaining a census of 25-35 patients with a minimum of 1 30-minute meeting per patient per month
  • Provide spiritual care and counseling to patients and their families, respecting their individual beliefs, values, and cultural practices
  • Conduct assessments of spiritual needs and develop care plans accordingly, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Assist with bereavement activities including phone calls and mailers
  • Offer support and comfort during end-of-life transitions, including conducting rituals, prayers, and sacraments as requested
  • Facilitate and lead discussions on spiritual matters, grief, and bereavement support groups for patients, families, and staff members
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic care and address the psychosocial and emotional needs of patients and their families
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of spiritual care interventions and patient interactions
  • Coordinate with community clergy and faith-based organizations to provide additional support and resources as needed
  • Provide educational and supportive resources to staff members regarding spiritual care and end-of-life issues
  • Stay updated on current research and best practices in hospice spiritual care to enhance service delivery
  • Adhere to the ethical and professional standards outlined by relevant regulatory bodies and our organization
