About The Position

North Ridge Country Club is seeking to add a Horticulturist to our Agronomy Team. This position will be key in elevating the beauty and presentation of Club grounds and golf course corridors through cultivating, maintaining, and improving the health and aesthetic of the plants and landscape. Working with the Director of Golf Course Maintenance, Superintendents, and Clubhouse Grounds Manager, the Horticulturist will assist with our objective to provide our members with an environment of world-class golf and Club culture.

Requirements

  • Degree or certification in Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in ornamental horticulture, landscaping, or golf-course environment.
  • Strong knowledge of plant identification, soil science, and horticultural best practices.
  • Ability to identify and treat insect, disease, and cultural plant health issues.
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to manage people and enforce policies.
  • Ability to operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency.
  • Ability to drive golf cart responsibly.
  • Ability to operate, or willingness to learn to operate, a manual shift utility vehicle responsibly.
  • A high attention to detail and awareness.
  • Ability to adequately understand and communicate in English.
  • Ability to work weekend mornings (every-other) and holidays (just morning).
  • Ability to use small engine landscaping equipment and hand tools.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on horticultural or plant care experience.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments year-round.
  • Driving and operating equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Requires focus adjustment, depth perception, and clear close/distant vision.

  • Degree or certification in Horticulture, Landscape Management, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose pest, disease, and environmental issues affecting plant material, and apply appropriate treatments.
  • Perform routine inspections of landscapes to monitor plant health, soil conditions, and irrigation efficiency.
  • Assist in landscape planning and design, working collaboratively on plant selections, bed layout, and color rotation programs.
  • Operate and maintain horticultural tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Support the training of crew members on proper horticultural techniques and safe work practices.
  • Stay current with regional plant material, sustainable horticultural practices, and seasonal care requirements.
  • Carry out horticultural tasks such as planting, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, weeding, watering, and soil amendment.
  • Implement seasonal care programs, including dormant pruning, integrated pest management, fertilization, and turf/bed maintenance.
  • Maintain and continually improve the horticultural quality, color, and aesthetics of all landscaped, naturalized and ornamental areas across the Club’s property.
  • Perform pesticide and fertilizer applications for trees, shrubs, and flower beds as needed, maintaining compliance with all regulatory and Club safety standards.
