Summary of Position: The Horticulture Technician is responsible for the safety of themselves and those around them while upholding work schedules, procedures, and quality standards. Implements proper horticulture landscape maintenance activities on the job site. Horticulture Technicians should manage job sites for quality and efficiency Goal: The Horticulture Technician’s goal is to safely maintain landscapes while leading a team of crew member(s). They ensure that the sites are in top condition and make recommendations to the Landscape Care Rep of additional work to be proposed.

Requirements

  • Prior horticulture experience is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong time management and adaptability skills a must.
  • Must have a drivers license with an insurable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma, College Degree or Certificate in Horticulture, landscaping or related field is preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Knows and follows all safety policy, personnel policy and procedure policy.
  • Leads in pre-job consultation with crew member(s) to improve quality and efficiency of the job site.
  • Communicates with facility managers as needed and reports communication to the Landscape Care Representative.
  • Safely and efficiently operates equipment and other tools.
  • Recommends changes to Operations Managers to improve efficiency.
  • Trains others in proper horticultural techniques.
  • Install plant material and softscape items.
  • Maintains relationship with the team.
  • Tracks hours of self and crew accurately by clocking in and out.
  • Maintains a clean and professional work site.
  • Ensures proper securement of equipment at all times.
  • Ensures punctuality of start and end times, breaks, and lunch periods.
  • Represent the company with professionalism and with good public relations.
  • Adapt to various working situations.
  • Perform additional required and incidental activities.
