About The Position

Provide support in maintaining the meaningful green areas within and around Promega campus buildings where people can interact with nature. As part of our Land & Natural Resources team, you will be providing hands-on maintenance for the flourishing green leafy spaces including the green roof elements, plant conservatory, living wall element and various nook and cranny plant areas within campus buildings. Key qualities we are looking for in a Seasonal Horticulture Assistant: flexibility, efficiency, attention to detail, enthusiasm to learn, great interpersonal relationship and communication skills, and willingness to get your hands dirty.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or proven work experience that ensures you are ready to be successful in this role.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with gardening, horticulture, greenhouse work, groundskeeping, landscaping maintenance or other related area.
  • Previous experience working with power tools and lawn care equipment including string trimmers, lawn mowers, ATV and tractors.

Responsibilities

  • Routine landscape and green roof maintenance including mowing, trimming, weeding, garden bed rejuvenation, brush clearing and pruning in designated areas.
  • Interior plant maintenance including watering, pruning, fertilizing, cleaning, treating for pests, and re-potting.
  • Horticulture and landscape equipment maintenance, including cleaning and preventative maintenance service and checks.
  • Detailed cleaning of interior common areas with plants. Removal of fallen debris, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
  • Routine inspection of exterior and interior landscapes for maintenance needs; scouting for pests and weeds, identifying plant needs, removal of waste or debris.
  • Assist with farm and other landscape projects including but not limited to: produce harvest, compost collection and removal, weed removal in specific areas, trail maintenance, and cleaning of exterior common areas.
  • Assist in Agora Art Fair set up (typically one Saturday in August).
  • Other duties as assigned.
