Requirements

• Must be able to work with horses, including the ability to read and record tattoo identification from the horses’ mouths or mane areas.
• Must be in good standing with the United States Trotting Association.
• Must have knowledge of all the rules and regulations set forth by the United States Trotting Association.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal skills.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the necessary functions of this position.
• Ability to consistently comprehend, retain and execute written, verbal and demonstrated directions, explanations and guidance.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and effectively communicate with guests, co-workers and management.
• Must be able to stand / walk and/or sit for extended periods of time without difficulty.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to obtain and keep a License issued by the Maryland Racing Commission required of all Racing Services employees.

Responsibilities

• Creates and ensures a fun-filled, entertaining and exciting environment where the flawless delivery and execution of service excellence is paramount.
• Will work in conjunction with and under the direction of the Paddock Judge and Presiding Judge
• Will verify identification of all horses coming into the paddock area.
• Will immediately report any discrepancies in tattoos, color or markings of the horses to the Paddock Judge and Presiding Judge.
• Complies with Maryland Racing Commission Regulations.
• Promotes outstanding public relations with the horsemen.
• Promotes honesty and trust amongst the team.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
