About The Position

Serves as an advisor to University Honors Program students. Focuses on supporting student development and success in the Honors Program and connects Honors students to resources beyond the program. Represents Honors at events and facilitates information and orientation sessions. Collects and analyzes Honors advising data. Provide appreciative advising to lower division Honors students. Actively reach out to students regarding Honors Program graduation and retention requirements, progression to graduation, academic policies and procedures, professional opportunities and campus resources. Review graduation, colloquium, and peer mentor applications. Provide support for first year colloquium. Facilitate summer orientation sessions and orientation drop-in advising. Collect, analyze and report on lower division Honors student advising data to include but not limited to advising appointment completions, student retention in program and progress to program completion. Facilitate Honors Program Information Sessions, participate in Office of Admissions webinars, and represent the Honors Program at TSC day. Review Honors admissions applications. Assist with events including but not limited to HSF Summer social, Open House, and Excellence in the Visual Arts ceremony, Presidential Scholars Recruitment weekend and Leadership Summit and Honors Fall festival and Medallion ceremonies. This position occasionally requires evening and weekend hours. Participate in trainings necessary to perform duties of an advisor in the University Honors Program. Continue to acquire knowledge of university policies and procedures and actively participates in professional development.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

  • Ability to extract complex academic information from various sources and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience and/or working knowledge of student academic advising.
  • Computer skills to include experience with Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Master's degree.
