About The Position

The YMCA of Orange County is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are actively a highly engaged, intentional, and service-oriented individual for a part-time Homeschool Instructor position. This role primarily supports our Homeschool program and students, with additional responsibilities providing support to the Kid Zone program in the same facility. This role is responsible for implementing curriculum and supervising children in a safe, supportive environment. The Homeschool Instructor will help to maintain a structured and positive setting for children by overseeing activities, reinforcing positive behavior, and upholding safety procedures. Location: Mission Viejo Work Schedule: This is a part-time position with shifts in both our Homeschool and Kid Zone program. The following shifts are required for this role: Monday & Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm Tuesday & Thursday 10:30am-1:00pm The following shifts will be assigned as needed: Wednesday 9:00am-1:00pm Friday 4:00pm-9:00pm Saturday 8:15am-11:30am Purpose and Impact: Create Meaningful Experiences: Support the Homeschool program by helping implement engaging curriculum and daily activities that nurture children’s confidence, self‑esteem, and character development. Ensure Safety: Provide attentive supervision and positive guidance that help children feel secure, respected, and supported throughout their day. Build Trusting Relationships: Foster warm, respectful connections with children, families, and staff, contributing to a welcoming and collaborative program community. Model YMCA Values: Inspire positive behavior by demonstrating Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, helping shape a culture where every child can grow and thrive. Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 18+ years old.
  • 1 year experience working with children in a classroom setting required.
  • 12 college units with 6 units in Child Development 6 units may be in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Physical Education, Art, and/or Music.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications required (training provided and paid for by the YMCA).

  • Background in education preferred.
