About The Position

The Homelessness Navigator supports the City of Arvada Homelessness Resolution Case Managers with street outreach activities to persons experiencing homelessness. The focus of this work is to connect individuals with resources and services to assist them with stabilizing their homelessness, mental health and and primary health situations. The Homelessness Navigator will research available services and build relationships with local non-profits and other service providers to identify possible solutions for individuals in need. This is a temporary part-time position (15-20 hours per week). This position is grant-funded and is expected to last based on funding and/or no later than 3/31/26.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Basic understanding of homeless population.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • A valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
  • High School/GED
  • Three (3) or more years’ experience working with people experiencing homelessness or housing instability.

Responsibilities

  • Acts in a supportive role to the Homelessness Resolution Case Managers to assist with homeless street outreach efforts.
  • Assists with data collection and reporting to ensure grant compliance.
  • Builds relationships with local non-profits and other service providers to identify possible solutions for individuals in need.
  • Assists individuals in meeting basic needs for food, clothing, shelter and transportation.
  • Assists with applications for income, medical, housing or other benefits.
  • Responds to email and phone inquiries for shelter, food, housing and other related assistance.
  • Reaches out to eligible clients, inform them of and educate them about available services and in the community, and maintain contact to support program requirements
  • Performs data entry in Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and Workday, the City of Arvada’s financial system.
  • Assists with data collection for grant reporting.
  • Frequently operates a personal or City-owned motor vehicle to drive to and from work locations throughout the City.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
