About The Position

This job is located in the Community Development Division of the Planning Department within the City of Oklahoma City. Work involves extensive knowledge of the homeless response system and well-developed skills in facilitating community training and collaboration on a large scale. Duties and responsibilities of the position revolve around training on best practices, grant compliance and evidence-based programming in housing and homeless services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in training, homeless services, or related field.
  • Knowledge of homelessness, housing models, and best practices in homeless services and housing placement.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in public speaking and presentations.
  • Skill in providing technical assistance.
  • Skill in working efficiently and accurately with information.

Nice To Haves

  • A college degree in Urban Planning, Business/Finance, Public Administration, Sociology or related field or two years of professional training or homelessness program experience.
  • Knowledge and experience working with homelessness case management, housing models, and best practices in homeless services and housing placement.
  • Knowledge and experience with United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant requirements.
  • Two (2) years of experience creating training programs including assessing training needs, developing effective training materials, delivering end-user training, and evaluating/monitoring training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and managing the implementation of a training and technical assistance program to support and educate partners and stakeholders on best practices, trauma informed care, housing first approaches and other relevant topics to enhance the capacity of the homeless services system.
  • Providing system-wide new user and advanced training on Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and the Coordinated Entry System.
  • Managing the Learning Management System and ensuring the document library and training courses are the latest versions with up-to-date information for service providers.
  • Standardizing service delivery through training on best practices, program models and Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) compliance standards.
  • Creating and updating Cheat Sheets, One Pagers and Quick Guides to provide educational information to the homeless response system.
  • Creating training progressions according to job functions.
  • Informing the community of learning opportunities.
  • Drafting, revising, and maintaining program policies and procedures.
  • Tracking program updates to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Analyzing program performance and processes.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending data-informed enhancements.
