About The Position

Pilsen Wellness Center, Inc. is a community-based not-for-profit agency that provides culturally sensitive services to a multicultural population with limited financial resources. The organizations mission has remained providing quality human services to economically disadvantaged children and families. The agency is comprised of five divisions – Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Youth Services, Early Intervention, and Education which are currently supported through 17 different locations. We are seeking for highly motivated full time Home Visitor to assist our team located at 2319 South Damen Avenue, Chicago, IL 60608 . The Home Visitor (HV) promotes the successful growth and development of the child and teen parent. HV is responsible for initiating and maintaining regular and long-term contact/support with families. This activity will occur primarily within the family’s home; each visit should last for at least one hour. Interventions should be family-centered and strength-based and directed at establishing a trusting relationship; assisting in strengthening the parent-child relationship; assisting parents in improving their skills to optimize the home environment Improving the family support-system; and increasing the family’s ability to problem solve and assume the role of advocate for themselves and their children. The HV will also be responsible for assisting the family in establishing goals and a plan for accomplishment of those goals as well as the assessment of the normal growth and development of the target child.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in working with or providing services to children and their families
  • An ability to establish trusting relationships
  • Acceptance of individual differences
  • Experience and humility to work with the culturally diverse families
  • Knowledge of infant and child development
  • Willing to engage in building reflective capacity (e.g., capacity for introspection, communicating awareness of self in relation to others, recognizing value of supervision, etc.)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) REQUIRED.
  • Reliable transportation REQUIRED.

  • Infant mental health endorsement preferred

Responsibilities
