The Home Delivered Meal (HDM) Supervisor will oversee the operation of meal delivery to homebound clients and congregate meal sites. This includes monitoring client assessment and satisfaction, and arranging daily repair and maintenance for the fleet of vehicles used in the Home Delivered Meal program and the Hirsch Kosher Kitchen.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required
  • Must have valid CA driver’s license and proof of Insurance
  • Access to reliable transportation to travel between work sites required
  • Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, push, and pull, twist and grip items with or without assistance
  • Mobility requirements including lifting, carrying (25lbs)
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Ability to understand the needs of the homebound client and to assess the individuals’ need for home delivered meal service
  • Ability to successfully organize, supervise and motivate staff and volunteers
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, good judgment and problem-solving ability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and the ability to learn proprietary database software
  • Culturally sensitive and able to work with a multicultural client/customer population
  • Ability to work in a non-judgmental manner and foster positive growth/outcomes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to maintain professional boundaries
  • Available to work occasional weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Able to pass and maintain, ServSafe food handler certification
  • Must be able to be flexible and easily shift between tasks as needed
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) and drug testing prior to beginning employment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with seniors in a human or social service organization preferred
  • Prior experience with Client Tracking System (CTS) - (Department of Aging software) and Get Care (County of Los Angeles software is a plus
  • Ability to speak Russian, Spanish or Farsi is a plus
  • Experience working in transportation or related field and with complying with state and local fleet vehicle regulations strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions is plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the smooth flow of information between HDM participants, drivers and food service operation.
  • Ability to understand the needs of the homebound client and to assess the individuals’ need for home delivered meal service
  • Responsible for compiling statistics and maintain all necessary documentation
  • Organize and supervise route deliveries for all Senior Nutrition Program (SNP) clients and drivers.
  • Screen, train and evaluate program drivers and volunteers
  • Supervise performance, address routine personnel issues and monitor payroll.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Director of Food and Nutrition, the Meal Site Supervisor and food production management
  • Maintain all records for the SNP vehicles and coordinate their maintenance and repair
  • Coordinate the duties and schedules of HDM volunteers
  • Coordinate program outreach for City of Los Angeles Dept. of Aging C2 programs as needed
  • Supervises Social Worker Assistant, who conducts intakes and assessments according to contract regulations and timelines
  • Monitor periodic reporting of client health and mental status. Report issues to the Director of Food and Nutrition and Social Services personnel as appropriate
  • Track deposits, volunteer hours, telephone reassurance activities and contract participation rosters for accuracy.
  • Ensure that contract requirements are met for all HDM activities, ensure data in funding source databases is accurate and timely, and prepare materials for periodic audits
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
  • Other duties assigned as needed
