About The Position

This position will assist with the organization and cleanup of the KA History Department. Approximately 8/10 hours/week, flexible, through Labor Day.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience with teaching, training and coaching others
  • Experience working with archival materials and fragile items
  • Familiarity with cataloguing software or inventory databases
  • Interest in history, storytelling, archival work, museums or library science are all encouraged

Responsibilities

  • Work with Archivist and team to organize archival materials (documents, photographs, artifacts) for easier access and long-term preservation.
  • Clean and declutter the archival space, including safe handling of older or delicate materials.
  • Inventory and catalog items using basic archival or spreadsheet tools.
  • Assist in reconfiguring the space for dual-purpose use (archives and research/display).
  • Support the development of basic display areas for public or internal use.
  • Label, store, and protect materials appropriately.
  • Coordinate scanning protocols and provide clear direction for internal scanning of mixed media items.
  • Coordinating transfer of select media to outside vendors for conversion to digital files
  • Identify and set aside items in need of conservation or special attention.
  • Follow handling and organizational protocols to ensure the integrity of historical materials.
