About The Position

Adjunct positions are an "Open Pool" for the upcoming Spring 2026 semester. There may or may not be available openings at this time however, when an opening does occur, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants we have on file on an as needed basis. Adjunct Instructor positions are part-time, semester-to-semester, non-benefited MCCC/MTA/DCE unit positions. GCC's History program provides students with an exploration into human history with an emphasis on social justice to prepare students for transfer to a Bachelor's in History. All history faculty are expected to ensure that course content embodies the principles of social justice by including historical narratives that are inclusive. We are particularly interested in instructors to teach: Women's History, World History, and LGBTQ History.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in History, or related field
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, with a range of academic abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of successful experience teaching history courses at the college level
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience in a community college
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in and outside of the classroom

Responsibilities

  • Conducts classes

  • Provides student assistance by appointment
  • Attends a limited number of faculty meetings
