About The Position

The History program at BJU prepares students to think biblically about past and current issues and to excel in research and writing. The successful candidate will provide student instruction and mentorship from a biblical worldview for undergraduate history courses. This role will begin in August for the Fall 2026-Spring 2027 school year.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in the field (minimum)
  • Possess knowledge of teaching field
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in the classroom and interpersonally with students
  • Demonstrate organizational abilities in teaching and classroom management
  • Possess and communicate a biblical worldview and integrate it into subject matter
  • Exemplify a biblical role model for students and colleagues
  • Professional in appearance and presentation
  • An applicant must be a born-again Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Each applicant must agree with and affirm the Bob Jones University creed, mission (see https://www.bju.edu/about/creed-mission.php ) and core biblical doctrines regarding areas such as the Bible, the triune God, man and salvation, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal degree preferred
  • A focus in graduate coursework and teaching experience across a wide range of history specialties (including American, European, and non-West) is preferred
  • Prior experience ideal though not essential

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses (including class preparation, grading, and other related teaching activities)
  • Maintain course syllabi and post on the intranet/Canvas for each class
  • Maintain regular posted office hours to be available to students
  • Engage in professional development activities
  • Maintain a thorough and current faculty portfolio
  • Participate in divisional meetings and activities (including curriculum development, service on committees, etc.
