About The Position

The Summer intern selected for this role will assist Philadelphia Historical Commission staff with drafting articles, social media posts, and other documentation related to the protection of the city’s historic resources. The position requires strong research, writing, and editorial skills. Applicants should have experience doing research using paper and online resources. The ability for self-direction and completing assignments on schedule is important for this role. The intern will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the Historical Commission’s role in protecting the city’s historic resources and will be included in the public meeting process. The maximum number of hours allocated for this role is 20 hours per week for 10 weeks. Please submit a resume, cover letter, references, and writing sample with your application.

Requirements

  • Applicants should be enrolled in a Graduate Level program in the field of Historic Preservation, History, or Art History.
  • Applicants should have research experience using paper and online resources.
  • Knowledge of the field of historic preservation, historic research and writing skills, and curiosity about Philadelphia's architecture and history.
