About The Position

Historical Interpreter II position at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site in Winnabow, NC. The Historical Interpreter II will provide visitor services functions at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site including giving tours, greeting visitors, living history interpretation, operating the sales desk, answering phone inquiries, maintaining, and interpreting artifacts, scheduling group tours, assisting with planning implementing special events, answering correspondence, maintaining Visitor Center in a clean and presentable manner, completing semi-annual inventories. Some correspondence, filing and maintenance of site records are required. The Historical Interpreter II also provides historical information for exhibits, publications, tours, and programming. The workweek will be Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30am-5:00pm with some work at night required during special events, etc.

Requirements

• Must be available to work the schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with occasional night and weekend work required as needed.
• Must have a valid driver’s license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
• Must be able to lift up to 20lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to climb a ladder.
• High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience in giving or developing museum tours; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
