This position involves receiving and preparing tissue specimens for routine and special examinations. The role requires performing complex histological procedures including grossing, embedding, microtomy, and staining to create tissue slides for diagnosis. The individual will be responsible for reviewing slide quality, maintaining and repairing lab instruments, disinfecting the work area, and stocking supplies. Ensuring all lab safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met is crucial. The role demands self-discipline, good judgment, critical and independent decision-making, and problem-solving skills while adhering to established standards of practice. Interaction with various client populations may be required, and the individual will perform routine duties across all areas of the Histology Laboratory. Collaboration and respectful interaction with other laboratory and health care personnel are expected. The position also involves assisting in writing and reviewing departmental procedures and participating in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
