About The Position
A short-term acute care hospital is seeking an experienced Histology Technician to support a high-volume histology laboratory. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy, and be comfortable working independently during overnight hours.
Requirements
- Minimum Experience: 2 years (required)
- National Certification Required: ASCP – HT
- General Histology Skills
- Tissue processing
- Embedding & Microtomy
- Automated and manual microtome use
- Cryostat sectioning
- Cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat
- Precision microtomy
- Paraffin wax sectioning
- Cutting blocks
- Microtomy of fatty and hard tissue
- Embedding techniques for: GI specimens, Large specimens, Small and large tissues, Skin specimens, Molds
- Histology cassette preparation
- Staining Experience
- Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) staining
- Slide preparation for staining
- Systems Experience
- Epic / Excellian experience required
