Rapid City Medical Center is in search of a Histology Lab Technician to join our team. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our laboratory team. This role is essential to the accurate preparation and processing of specimens that support high-quality diagnostic results. Requirements

  • High school diploma with HT certification or BS in Biology or related field
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications, tests.
  • Knowledge of how to use/maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
  • Knowledge of safety, infection control policies and regulations.
  • Skill in following appropriate testing procedures.
  • Skill in proper equipment use, preventive maintenance and repair.
  • Skill in appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment/decision-making and discretion in reporting/distributing results.
  • Ability to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff.
  • Ability to organize effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy.

Nice To Haves

  • One year laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical laboratory functions including specimen grossing, processing, cutting, staining, and cover slipping.
  • Ensures quality control in collecting specimens, and in ensuring specimen integrity and slide quality.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Complies with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, infection control.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
