Rapid City Medical Center is in search of a Histology Lab Technician to join our team. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our laboratory team. Requirements

High school diploma with HT certification or BS in Biology or related field
Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications, tests.
Knowledge of how to use/maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
Knowledge of safety, infection control policies and regulations.
Skill in following appropriate testing procedures.
Skill in proper equipment use, preventive maintenance and repair.
Skill in appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures.
Ability to exercise independent judgment/decision-making and discretion in reporting/distributing results.
Ability to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff.
Ability to organize effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy.

Nice To Haves

One year laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs technical laboratory functions including specimen grossing, processing, cutting, staining, and cover slipping.
Ensures quality control in collecting specimens, and in ensuring specimen integrity and slide quality.
Maintains equipment and supplies as needed.
Complies with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, infection control.
Performs other duties as assigned.
