No matter where your talents lie, join us and discover how we can advance health together.   Duke Health Integrated Practice Duke Health Integrated Practice comprises more than 110 primary and specialty outpatient clinics, extending the reach of the Duke Health mission across the state of North Carolina. We are seeking a Histology Technician in our Duke Wakefield Mohs Surgery clinic located in Raleigh to perform routine histopathological tests in a clinical laboratory for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease. The schedule for this position is 7:00am - 5:30pm, Monday-Thursday, with no weekend or holidays.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimal educational or experience requirements may be modified on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) director if minimal CLIA requirements are met by the employee for the tasks being performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Science preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine sections of surgical tissue for microscopic examination in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
  • Prepare equipment and reagents for frozen embedding, cutting and mounting of tissue; perform routine and special staining techniques
  • Label, file, discard and maintain records of tissue samples and slides.
  • Label and record slides of specimens received; provide specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by the pathologist.
  • Perform frozen sectioning on a cryostat.
  • Set up equipment, instruments, reagents and apparatus for specific laboratory techniques.
  • Perform various Quality Control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Utilize various hospital information systems and software.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
