About The Position

True Dermatology, an AQUA Dermatology portfolio practice, is one of the largest and most comprehensive full-service skin care providers in the Southeast offering medical and surgical dermatology. This position will work with an assigned doctor during Mohs procedures. Duties include Mohs histology procedures, tracking of all submitted Mohs specimens for processing and diagnosis, and the necessary recording of Quality Assurance and Quality Control for the Mohs Lab.

Requirements

Education - GED/High School Diploma
Experience – Experience in a CLIA-certified laboratory setting (Preferred). 1-2 years of experience in skin pathology or as a histo-tech (Preferred)
Familiarity with common medical terminology
Communication – Excellent oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively.
Work Style - Must be able to work well independently but ask for help when needed, analyze and interpret information, and interact and decipher information telephonically and electronically.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a CLIA-certified laboratory setting
1-2 years of experience in skin pathology or as a histo-tech
Bilingual

Responsibilities

Is responsible for specimen handling, storage preservation, and identification; freezing tissue and cutting frozen sections with a microtone; staining and placing a tissue on slides; and prepping reagents.
Is responsible for the disposal of stains and the upkeep of the work area.
Keeps equipment operational by following operating instructions and troubleshooting breakdowns.
Updates OSHA and CLIA records.
Maintains patient identification.
Documents in EMR as appropriate.
Troubleshooting issues with fellow technicians and resolving any problems by examining and evaluating data, and selecting appropriate corrective steps.
Conforms to all applicable HIPAA and safety guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
