Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Histotechnician (Non-Certified) required

Nice To Haves

• Certified Histotechnician (HT/ASCP) - preferred

Responsibilities

• Preparation of specimens for microscopic evaluation by the Pathologist through the use of a microtomy, special staining, histochemistry, and other appropriate techniques in accordance with the Pathology policy and procedures
• Must be versed in a range of procedures including processing, cutting, embedding of all types of tissue and body fluid samples
• The performance of routine and special staining procedures
• Knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures if applicable to job duties
• Use and maintenance of histology equipment
• Maintenance of manuals, logs and files appropriate to the department
• Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director
