The HIM specialist is responsible for the facilities’ health record integrity associated with the following HIM processes: record analysis, deficiency monitoring/delinquency process, and/or registry maintenance. The HIM Specialist role is essential to assist with the completion of the Legal Medical Record for the health ministry for the purposes of treatment, continuity of care, reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and legal needs. The HIM Specialist may perform, when assigned duties associated with medical records processes and procedures for retrieval, preparation, scanning, indexing and quality review of paper documents. Here’s what you will experience working as an HIM Specialist: Meet and/or exceed productivity and quality standards Demonstrate basic knowledge of content and location of documents in LMR Complete all other duties as assigned No direct reports (average number: zero) Work closely with HIM leadership to achieve monthly and quarterly DNFB target Perform assigned responsibilities such as record analysis, scanning and imaging, deficiency/delinquency monitoring, EMR/data integrity, DNFB/DNFC assistance, registry maintenance (e.g., Birth Registry), and regulatory standards compliance.

Requirements

  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one-year experience in an office environment, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desired
  • Basic with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, cloud and web-based functionality
