About The Position

Memorial Community Hospital & Health System is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Release of Information Technician to join our Health Information Management (HIM) team. This role plays a vital part in protecting patient privacy and ensuring the accurate and timely release of medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies. As a key member of our HIM department, you’ll handle confidential health information, respond to requests from patients and providers, and contribute to a collaborative and efficient work environment. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year in medical records or a related healthcare field preferred

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Health Information Management

Responsibilities

• Process all Release of Information (ROI) requests for hospital and clinic records with accuracy and timeliness.
• Respond to inquiries via phone, mail, fax, and in person, ensuring excellent customer service.
• Verify patient identity and authorization for record release in compliance with HIPAA and legal standards.
• Track and prioritize medical record requests to support patient care, billing, and other needs.
• Conduct quality checks to ensure confidentiality and proper invoicing.
• Access and distribute transcribed reports from electronic health records.
• Support departmental projects and quality improvement initiatives.
• Stay current on relevant regulations and assist during high-demand periods or staff shortages.
