UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with five hospitals, four medical centers, nearly 200 physician practice locations, more than 700 providers, the Frazier Rehab Institute and Brown Cancer Center. With more than 12,000 team members—physicians, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists and other highly skilled health care professionals—UofL Health is focused on one mission: delivering patient-centered care to each and every patient each and every day. The MPI Integrity Technician is responsible for maintaining an accurate Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) by performing electronic merges within Health Information Management Systems (HIMS) when duplicate or other medical record number issues are identified, under the direction of the HIMS Data Integrity Analyst. This role communicates with multiple departments house-wide to coordinate correct and accurate patient information and other required data for new and existing registrations. The technician is also responsible for auditing of MRN and duplicate encounter creation and supports patient matching activities for the health information exchange. Interaction with internal customers including hospital staff, physicians and their offices, and other revenue cycle team members is required. The technician actively participates in department and hospital performance initiatives to ensure ULH success.
