About The Position

The production fork truck driver is responsible for routine material deliveries to support ongoing manufacturing operations. This includes fulfilling special production delivery needs, collaborating with multiple teams, and ensuring accurate and timely delivery of materials to designated locations. The role involves hands-on material functions, such as repacking materials and operating a fork truck to transport materials to a lithium-ion battery assembly line. Safety is a priority, with responsibilities including reporting safety concerns. The position requires accountability for safety, quality, and meeting production requirements, as well as following work instructions and maintaining a safe and organized workspace.

Requirements

  • Valid fork truck license and demonstrated proficiency in operating.
  • Prior experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in inventory control, warehouse operations, inbound and outbound shipment management.
  • GED or high school diploma required.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory management techniques.
  • Ability to use calculators or price lists for computations.
  • Familiarity with inventory labeling and organization.
  • Knowledge of material handling equipment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and adapting skills.
  • Knowledge of using warehouse management tools, such as OWMS, IWMS, tracking systems is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to perform 5S activities including taking trash outside.
  • Initiative to prevent and improve the product, process, and quality systems.
  • Ability to identify concerns and initiate corrective actions.
  • Compliance with the requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 specifications.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work area.
  • Reading and following work instructions, drawings, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Documenting actions by completing corrective action, material delivery, and audit documents.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to travel between manufacturing facilities as required.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.
  • Ability to stand, walk, carry light objects, handle parts, reach with hands and arms, and lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams to ensure the team meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Experience with powered industrial vehicles, including lift trucks and tuggers.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Reading and writing skills, including maintaining charts, graphs, and production reports.
  • Adaptability and the ability to follow work instructions.
  • Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams to meet or exceed expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute routine production material deliveries to support ongoing manufacturing operations.
  • Fulfill special production delivery needs as required.
  • Assist team members and collaborate with multiple teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of material to designated locations.
  • Perform hands-on material functions, including repacking materials into plastic totes from cardboard.
  • Act as a replacement in case of absenteeism, ensuring continuous material delivery and production support.
  • Participate in 5S activities to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
  • Report safety concerns immediately and adhere to proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Complete daily fork lift checklists to ensure equipment safety.
  • Execute the delivery of materials to a fast-paced lithium-ion battery assembly line.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by cross-training and rotating through various job positions.
  • Become proficient in operating multiple fork truck driving positions.
  • Take daily accountability for safety, quality, and meeting production requirements.
  • Perform start-of-shift activities and contribute to end-of-shift clean-up procedures.
  • Read and follow work instructions, drawings, diagrams, and specifications to ensure accurate task execution.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with established procedures, rules, and regulations.
