About The Position

The Hiking Guide is responsible for leading immersive, scenic hikes on the Stock Farm property. Our hikes cater to both beginner and experienced hikers. As a guide, you will be responsible for managing the logistics of each trip, ensuring safety, and sharing your knowledge of the area, Leave No Trace principles, and outdoor skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Stock Farm property.
  • Navigation skills with maps, compass, and GPS.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and to modify activities to accommodate weather.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and to work independently.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in highly fluid and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audience.
  • Ability to work with a team and interact with others in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of Stock Farm Club and member and guest information.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and image of the Stock Farm Club.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Must be First Aid & CPR Certified within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to pass employment background check and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license in accordance with the laws of the State of Montana; must be insurable under the company’s auto insurance policy.
  • Must be able to work variable schedule or irregular hours to include last-minute scheduling needs/changes and working split shifts based on needs of the Club operations and scheduled events.
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekday, weekend, early morning/late evening, and overtime hours as required.
  • Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions as needed and to walk on uneven ground.
  • Ability to perform same-day travel on Stock Farm Property and within local geographic region.
  • General physical activities.
  • Work involves long periods of walking, standing, use of arms and legs, and movement of entire body.
  • Work includes climbing; lifting; balancing; walking; stooping; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds.
  • Work involves walking on uneven and slippery surfaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with backpacking, guiding groups, and hiking.
  • Prior successful employment with the Stock Farm Club in this or a related position.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and guides groups of up to 12 guests on Stock Farm Club property hikes, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enjoyable experience.
  • Plans and executes hikes, including route selection, preparation, and readiness of necessary equipment.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of Stock Farm Club and surrounding property to effectively inform and assist guests.
  • Reports to work as scheduled and maintains reliable, punctual attendance.
  • Demonstrates readiness to perform assigned duties during emergency situations.
  • Provides appropriate response during emergencies, including administering first aid and assisting with evacuations as needed.
  • Ensures all safety standards, protocols, and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with Members, guests, and team members.
  • Fosters a respectful, team-oriented work environment through positive and professional interactions.
  • Delivers exceptional member service by maintaining professional relationships and ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
