By joining our Department of Highways, District 9, Project Delivery & Preservation Branch I, Elliott County Unit as a Highway Technician Superintendent II in Elliott County, you’ll have the opportunity to supervise employees in the highway maintenance and repair of roads. Summary of Responsibilities: Oversees, coordinates and creates long-term highway maintenance programs. Responsible for work crews and activities on highway maintenance projects. Reviews roadway conditions, identifies highway maintenance needs, determines appropriate repairs and methods, prioritizes projects and schedules. Completes records and reports on personnel, equipment, supplies, and budget. Addresses inquiries from supervisors, citizens, and public officials. Responds and supervises snow and ice removal and other emergencies. Ideal candidate will have experience in: Twelve (12) years of construction or highway maintenance experience. Experience with supervision of employees and contract work on highway maintenance projects. Responding to emergency and/or mandatory operations. Working with strict deadlines. Proper traffic controls and safe working environment. Computer skills. Communication skills necessary for communication with staff, contractors, and coworkers. Requirements

  • Must have twelve years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's and a Class A commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • The employee must successfully complete the KYTC Highway Technician Academy Leadership Level 2 or equivalent within one year of employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

  • Ability to work, sit, stoop and bend.
