Highway Maintenance Supervisors supervise skilled and semi-skilled personnel engaged in restoring roadway surfaces and restoring or constructing slopes, shoulders, culverts, structures, fixtures and landscaping. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. This position is responsible for assisting six Supervisor I's from sub-stations: Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Orovada and Quinn River. This covers over 1227 lane miles in District III. Assist in scheduling projects and routine activities, coordinating equipment needs, monitoring work progress and productivity of four crews. Determine material needs, place orders and make arrangement for delivers to accomplish various betterment projects. Responds to emergency call outs. Work with Supervisor I's and Maintenance Manager to identify up and coming betterment needs, participate in betterment reviews, assist in preparing and submitting budget estimates. Compile a planning chart for the upcoming season. Assist Supervisor I's with personnel issues. Provide support and guidance in evaluation and disciplinary actions.
