About The Position

The High Voltage Lineman's primary responsibility is to perform journeyman lineman electrical functions associated with high voltage electrical distribution including maintenance of al electrical distribution, transformers, poles and substations. This position requires considerable knowledge in construction and maintenance of high voltage overhead and underground distribution of 12.4KV to 69KV systems.

Requirements

  • Competent expertise in overhead high voltage work
  • Very knowledgeable of electrical safety
  • Expert knowledge of craft theory and craft materials with the ability to apply the theory and select the proper materials
  • Knowledge of all tools and equipment that are used by the craft
  • Read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, schematics and diagrams as they pertain to the craft
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years high voltage experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Regular, dependable attendance
  • U. S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations
  • Must lift 75 lbs. unassisted
  • Must work in extreme weather conditions - summer peaks at 120° Fahrenheit
  • Must wear appropriate Person Protective Equipment (PPO)
  • Dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication
  • Be able speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Well-mannered customer service attitude
  • Willing to cross-train in other areas
  • Punctual, responsible, and dependable
  • Demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and correct problems using blue prints, drawings and specifications
  • Trouble shoot and repair most complex problems
  • Proficient in computing load requirements, wire sizing, electrical test equipment
  • Use electrical hand tools
  • Perform work safely under hazardous conditions
  • Perform most complex and unusual tasks of the craft without supervision
  • Perform work of the craft in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions
